Blogging from the Pool

We are about halfway through our move now. So far, we have been blessed with a nice relaxing trip. Our first few weeks included traveling to West Virginia, Virginia and back through Georgia to visit with friends and family. We hit a few geocaches along the way and visited Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s home in Virginia. The kids had a blast visiting with their cousins and friends and I also enjoyed the fellowship of my best friend Stacey as well as my sister-in-law, Kellie.

Now, we are working on a 5 week stay in Pensacola with Harry as he goes to his 2 month school. We’re staying in a hotel with a pool and maid service! These are two great things for a family of six. This really does feel like a vacation (well maybe not for Harry who is stuck in a class where the a/c keeps going out!) Some coop friends of ours live near here and we are enjoying spending time with them. They even came to a pool party that we threw for Kathryn and Austin to celebrate their birthdays!

Another neat activity we have been taking advantage of is swimming lessons. Callie and A.J. and I are making the trek to NAS Pensacola each morning for swimming lessons for them. We were very fortunate to snag a spot in the packed sessions. They are learning very quickly! This is a good thing because we just signed a lease on a house in Hawaii that has a pool! Yippee! Along with the swimming lessons, we have also been able to witness the practices of the Blue Angels. NAS Pensacola is their home base and they practice there 2 mornings a week. It’s fascinating to just be sitting there at the pool, by the beach and watch these 6 planes doing maneuvers right over our heads.

Soon (in about 2 weeks) we’ll be heading to Texas to visit with our families. We’re all looking forward to seeing everyone again. It’s hard to believe that we haven’t been “home” for 3 years! Our trip to Texas is our last stop before we head over to Hawaii. I’ll try to check in with the blog before then. Until then, we covet your prayers for our safe travel! Thanks for checking in!!
